“Essentially a landscape painter I do however draw on the thinking and working practice of Abstract Expressionism
The sheer physicality of moving paint around whilst trying to capture a sense of time and place is what excites me.
The sculptural physicality of Lino cuts and subsequent printing process is also a wonderful way to share an experience of land and sea, not always a specific place but again that ‘sense of place’. The joy of tearing and cutting paper to create intuitive yet choreographed mixed media collages also offers a tremendous freedom of expression, much like a dance on paper.
