'Infinite Horizons' - October 13 - December 24, 2024

"I was born in Bangor and bought up in Bethel Caernarfon, apart from a brief period whilst at university I have lived in North Wales all my life. Throughout my childhood and young adulthood, I drew and painted avidly.
However, I originally trained to be a medical doctor. I settled in Criccieth and worked as a GP
In my late 30s I was diagnosed as having Parkinsons disease, and my younger sister died suddenly; to cope with the grief I took up art again. Spending all my free time painting and drawing mostly outside, I was known locally as the “Painting Doctor “
I began to successfully exhibit my work and became established as an artist so   15 years ago I completely stopped General Practice
I now work as a full-time visual artist, my studio is based in Tregarth, near Bethesda.
My work is expressive, and I am inspired by my own life experiences, the local environment, people, and history. My work is instantly recognisable, as I use innovative and novel mark making techniques.
I am an elected member of the Royal Cambrian Academy. (The Welsh Regional Royal Academy)."

ARTISTS STATEMENT
"As an artist I am a seeker and collector of new experiences. I chase after new horizons and always want to see beyond the next. I aim to reproduce the experience and, in my artwork,
I want to tap into the viewers psyche and help them recognise memories that had a positive effect on their wellbeing, or that influence them to act or think about issues in their own or others’ lives.
Constantly searching for the novel, my work is varied and could be inspired by human interaction, landscape I have seen, poetry and even current affairs. I work mostly from memory and my mark making technique and colours I use are carefully chosen to evoke an emotional response by the viewer.
I work in several different media, and I am constantly experimenting to achieve the desired outcome."
